The Esmecke reservoir (also Wenholthausen or Einbergsee reservoir ) is a local recreation area in the Sauerland-Rothaargebirge nature park northwest of Wenholthausen , a district of Eslohe (Sauerland) in the Hochsauerlandkreis in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The operator of the system is the municipality of Eslohe . The 17 m high dam that dams the Esmeckebach was built in 1971 from rock fill material. The rest hut on Einbergsee has been in operation again since May 2006.

The small reservoir has a bathing bay with an adjoining large sunbathing area. The body of water heats up quickly and evenly, as no water is withdrawn from it even in midsummer. A DLRG station ensures the safety of visitors. Fishing in the lake is also possible.
