The Ugentalsperre is a flood retention basin in the Ugental near Heidenheim in Baden-Württemberg . Because of its height, the structure at Hochberg is still considered a large dam according to the ICOLD criterion . The dammed brook is the only intermittently water-bearing Ugentalgraben , which, shortly before its confluence with the Brenz, already flows into the urban area from the right of the Wedel from the south.
The Ugental is one of several valleys in the Wedels river system with usually poor or very dry water courses. Often, contrary to custom, their names are derived from the valley names. However, you can flood the town center of Heidenheim during floods. Specifically, it is the Stubental, through which the Wedel itself flows, with its upper course Eseltal near Söhnstetten and its successive tributaries Mauertal near Söhnstetten, Werchstubental, Wental near Steinheim am Albuch and finally the Ugental . The frond flows through the city center piped from the right and west; Half a kilometer further down the Brenz valley flows in the opposite direction, which similarly endangers a large industrial zone in the flat Brenz valley floodplain.
The Ugental retention basin belongs to the Wedel-Brenz water association and was built in 1960.
