Pre-lock of the Kiliansteich dam

The upper Kiliansteich (Vorperre Kiliansteich) is a dam in Saxony-Anhalt . It is an earth dam with a core seal. The bush trench is dammed .

description

The reservoir is located near Straßberg (Harz) in Saxony-Anhalt and serves as the front dam of the Kiliansteich . No compaction or compensation measures are known for the subsoil. The west bank is characterized by retreating spruce, under whose umbrella mixed deciduous forest is growing. The pond is the oldest pond of the Unterharzer pond and ditch system that has been preserved in its original form .

It is not known what material the bottom outlet is made of. Since the barrier is operated continuously, the bottom outlet is not used. In the course of the renovation, a reinforced concrete pipe was installed as a flood relief system, via which the pre-dam and the dam are connected. The minimum water level is determined by the bottom of the overflow pipe. The old overflow is still in function and can still be seen standing on the dam.

Most of the original slope trenches no longer exist. Only the slope ditch to the Frankenteich can still be seen, but it is in a very poor condition. The excess to the Kiliansteich dam was rehabilitated and graveled.

history

The pond was built 1703–1704 under the direction of Georg Christoff von Utterodt . Originally there was a cascade of three smaller ponds one behind the other, which had been built for mining .

Depending on requirements, the dammed water could be diverted via ditches into the pit field Eiserne Zeche, for cycling on the city path, into the Rödelbachtal and into the Glasebachtal. As flood protection, the water flowed over a slope ditch into the Frankenteich , which is further south-east, when it was fully flooded . Two of the four ponds were broken in 1901 and 1944 and all in poor condition.

In the course of the renovation between 1989 and 1994 (the first planning dates from 1977) and the associated new construction of the Kiliansteich dam, the Obere Kiliansteich was expanded as a preliminary dam . This is intended to achieve a pre-clarification of the water and prevent the reservoir root from falling dry when the water level drops . The reservoir remained unchanged and the old dam was also preserved.

The embankments were adjusted to a 1: 2 slope and the surface was paved with gravel and grit. There is now a larger silting zone on the south bank. The water level is 440.5 m above sea level when the water level is full.
