The Brändbachtalsperre , whose reservoir is called Kirnbergsee , is a small dam near Bräunlingen in the southern part of Baden-Württemberg .

The barrier structure is a curved concrete gravity dam with a quarry stone cladding. It was renovated in 2000 and was the first dam in Germany to be sealed with a plastic sealing membrane ( geomembrane ) made of PVC on the water side . In 1955 the wall was reinforced with concrete on the waterfront.

The power of the hydropower plant is 300 kW. It generates 0.7 GWh per year. It is operated by the city of Bräunlingen.

The Kirnbergsee has been rated as excellent quality since 2008 according to the bathing water directive 2006/7 / EC .
