Old dam of the Dahlhausen dam |
The Dahlhausen dam in Radevormwald - Dahlhausen in the Oberbergisches Kreis , North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1921/22 above the Hardt, Pocorny & Co textile factory to generate hydropower and to supply industrial companies below with service water . It is an extension of the Dahlhausen compensation pond, which was built in 1897 by the Wupper-Talsperren-Genossenschaft and opened shortly afterwards . The compensatory pond ensured that the water taken from the Lingesetalsperre and the Bevertalsperre for the drive of the water engines during the ten operating hours during the day was buffered and evenly released to the middle and lower Wupper.
The dam is located east of Wuppertal on the Wupper between the Wuppertalsperre and the Beyenburger reservoir , the predecessor of which was also created around 1900 as a compensation pond. In the 1940s and 1960s, the dam was partially renovated twice. In 1989 it was listed and completely renovated from 1997 to 1999. It is operated by the Wupper Association. The hydropower plant is privately owned and is still in use today.
Technical specifications
The dam consists of a 110 m long dam with a weir with automatic dams as an overflow. With a structure height of 11 m above the foundation, the water level is 5.50 m and the height above the river bed is 6.65 m. According to the Wupperverband, the storage volume is specified as 70,000 m³, but according to the NRW storage system directory, it is 200,000 m³. The crown length of 110 m includes the slope connections.
