The Mordgrundbach retention basin is a flood retention basin of the state dam administration of Saxony (Gottleuba / Weißeritz dam maintenance department) in the catchment area of the Bahra and Gottleuba . The dam is located near Bahratal and is operated in partial permanent accumulation, which means that part of the basin is constantly filled. The dammed body of water is the Mordgrundbach . Other uses are industrial water supply and fishing .
The barrier structure is an earth dam with an inclined inner seal made of clay.
In the reservoir there is a small island.
