The retention basin Friedrichswalde-Ottendorf is a flood protection system of the state dam administration of Saxony (dam maintenance department Gottleuba / Weißeritz) in the catchment area of the bier in the area of the municipality of Bahretal . The facility was completed in 1970. In addition to flood protection, the flood retention basin is used to provide process water for industry and agriculture as well as commercial fishing .
