Oberaschau is a district of the town of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .

geography

Oberaschau is about five kilometers north of Neunburg vorm Wald an der Ascha . The place is south of the Warntal, a narrow breakthrough valley that the Ascha dug between the 583 m high Kühberg massif on the west side and the 572 m high Warnberg massif on the east side. State road 2398 runs through Oberaschau and connects Neunburg vorm Wald with Oberviechtach and the B 22 .

history

In 1273 Oberaschau was first mentioned in a document as "zuperius Ascha". Oberaschau was counted as a settlement to the Neunburg district in 1283 with five courtyards and a mill. In 1665 it is listed under the name Obernaschach. The "Ober-" in the place name refers to the fact that Oberaschau is closer to the source of the Ascha than Mitter- and Unteraschau .

On March 23, 1913, Oberaschau was part of the Schwarzhofen parish , consisted of houses and had 32 residents. On December 31, 1990, Oberaschau had 26 residents and belonged to the parish of Schwarzhofen.
