Mitteraschau is a district of the city of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .

geography

Mitter Aschau is located about three kilometers north of Neunburg vorm Wald on both shores slopes of Asha on the main road in 2398 , the Nine vorm Wald with Oberviechtach and B 22 connects.

history

The name Mitteraschau is derived from the river Ascha. The "Mitter-" refers to the fact that Mitteraschau is further away from the source of the Ascha than Oberaschau , but closer to the source than Unteraschau . Mitteraschau was first mentioned in a document in 1273. Mitteraschau was counted as a settlement in the Neunburg district in 1283. Ulrich of Wilbrand was in 1326 with the courts of Mitter Aschau invested . The place name "Mittern Aschach" is documented for 1574.

On March 23, 1913, Mitteraschau was part of the Schwarzhofen parish , consisted of 23 houses and had 136 inhabitants. In 1921 Mitteraschau was parried to Neunburg vorm Wald.

On December 31, 1990 Mitteraschau had 174 inhabitants and was the branch of the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald.

Culture and sights

St. John the Baptist (Mitteraschau)

The church of St. John the Baptist in Mitteraschau was built in the second half of the 12th century in Romanesque style. In 1786 it was renovated and expanded. The church tower has a small arched window on the ground floor and a cross vault in the choir. In 1961 a painting of the Trinity was discovered during renovation work . The interior of the church is decorated with figures of the four evangelists and the mother of God Mary with baby Jesus from the 14th century . The bells also include a bell cast by Johann Gordian Schelchshorn in 1676.
