Mittermurnthal is a district of the city of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Schwandorf district in Bavaria .
geography
Mittermurnthal is located about five kilometers northeast of Neunburg vorm Wald in the Murntal, a breakthrough valley of the Schwarzach that connects to the Eixendorftalsperre . Here the Schwarzach breaks through the granite bar that separates the Tertiary basin around Rötz from the Neunburg valley basin .
history
The name Moornthal, later Murnthal, comes from the swampy, boggy valley floor in which the settlement is located. It was also called Rosskopfhütte in earlier times.
From the middle of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, Ober -Mitter- and Untermurnthal were among the largest grinding works in Germany. In 1939 they ceased operations as a result of the Belgian-Rhenish competition. After a new dam was built in 1925, the glass loops were connected to the public energy supply from 1936 and used as hydroelectric power stations to generate electricity. From 1940 to 1945 the Wehrmacht set up grain stores here. The buildings were later leased to various companies.
The power plant in Mittermurnthal served as energy supply from 1937 and continued to operate a small grinding shop.
On March 23, 1913, Mittermurnthal was part of the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald, consisted of two houses and had 36 residents.
On December 31, 1990 Mittermurnthal had a resident and belonged to the parish of Neunburg vorm Wald.
