Waiting for the End is the second single of the US alternative rock - band Linkin Park from their fourth studio album A Thousand Suns . It was released on October 1, 2010.

Music video

As with most Linkin Park music videos, Joe Hahn directed it. The music video shows the band playing the song in the dark. Special effects and distortions are used in the video , which make the band look like a hologram like a point cloud .

meaning

The song is about wanting to forget something and still keep going. No matter how hard you try to get something out of your thoughts and get on with your life, it still comes back to you.

Waiting for the End became a chart success primarily in the United States . The single stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 for a total of 23 weeks and sold over 1,000,000 units, but it did not get past number 42 (18th week after chart entry). Instrumental in the development chart also had the (hesitant emerging) success in the airplay charts , such as the first place in the Alternative Songs -charts 15 weeks after chart entry and # 2 on the rock songs -charts.

Chester Bennington wrote:

“It took two years for us to make that record, and it took that whole process for us to really digest the new music, so we knew that it was going to take people time to really let it settle and Waiting for the End is a perfect example of that ... it's taken it a while for it to elevate up the charts, and it went to No. 1 at the Alternative charts, and then kinda went back, and then went back to # 1. (...) People are getting it now. "
