Joe Hahn
Joseph "Joe" Hahn (born March 15, 1977 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American DJ, director and visual artist. He is best known as the DJ for American rock band Linkin Park, where he performed the turntables , sampling and programming for all seven Linkin Park albums . Hahn and his bandmate Mike Shinoda are responsible for the majority of Linkin Park's album covers.
childhood and education
Joseph Hahn was born in Dallas on March 15, 1977, the youngest of three children . He has two older sisters. Hahn grew up in Glendale, California . Hahn is a second generation Korean American .
Hahn graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Glendale in 1995 . He then studied at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena , but did not graduate.
Career
Hahn started out as a DJ in high school. In college he met Mike Shinoda and joined his band Xero, which became known under this name and later as Linkin Park with the publication of Hybrid Theory in 1999. Hahn and Shinoda appeared in The X-Ecutioners ' single It's Goin' Down . Hahn starred in Shinoda's debut album by Fort Minor The Rising Tied on the song Slip Out the Back .
Hahn was named Chairman Hahn on the back of Linkin Park's first remix album, Reanimation , alongside the songs "With You" and "Cure for the Itch", titled "Wth> You" and "Kyur4 TH Ich". Hahn has directed several Linkin Park music videos , including the videos for “ Numb ”, “From the Inside”, “ What I've Done ”, “ Somewhere I Belong ”, “Pts.OF. Athrty ”,“ New Divide ”,“ Bleed It Out ”and“ Iridescent ”. He has also directed videos for Alkaline Trio , Static-X , Story of the Year , and Xzibit . In a 2003 interview, he told MTV that filmmaking was his real passion and that "making music is more of an additional thing". He is known for adding various dramatic effects to the music videos he makes, such as the casting of a snake in the video for "Iridescent".
In addition to his work in music, Hahn was involved with special effects on The X-Files and the Frank Herbert's Dune miniseries . He also directed a short film called The Seed and acquired the rights to a film adaptation of China Miéville's novel King Rat.
Hahn staged the trailer for the video game Medal of Honor with the single " The Catalyst " by Linkin Park. Hahn also shot the music video for "The Catalyst", which premiered on August 26, 2010, and the music video for Linkin Park's " Waiting for the End " and " Burning in the Skies ". On April 13, 2011, Mike Shinoda confirmed on his blog that the music video for " Iridescent " was being shot by Hahn.
Hahn became the first Korean American to receive a Grammy when the band won the 2002 award for Best Hard Rock Performance . In November 2011 Hahn designed a helmet for Formula 1 driver Kamui Kobayashi . From April 2012 Hahn directed a film adaptation of Eric Bogosian 's Mall, based on the novel in which Vincent D'Onofrio plays and which is produced by him. The music for the album was done by Linkin Park and Alec Puro from Deadsy for the film.
Private life
Hahn married Karen Benedit on February 15, 2005; they divorced in 2009.
On October 21, 2012, Hahn married Heidi Woan, whom he had met about two years earlier in 2010. They have one child, a daughter named Lola.
