Dave Farrell

David Michael "Phoenix" Farrell (born February 8, 1977 in Plymouth , Massachusetts ) is an American musician , known as the bassist for the rock band Linkin Park . He was also a member of Tasty Snax, a Christian rock and ska band.

Life

Farrell learned to play the guitar from his mother when he was in high school. He lived in Plymouth for the first few years, but moved to Mission Viejo , California when he was 5 .

Tasty Snax

While in high school, Farrell joined the Christian ska punk rock band "Tasty Snax", which later renamed itself "The Snax". Since the band was desperately looking for a bass player, Farrell agreed and switched from electric guitar to bass, which he still plays. Also in the band was Farrell's college friend Mark Fiore, who later also worked on many music videos for Linkin Park. The band recorded two studio albums and a compilation album on Screaming Giant Records. Farrell left the band in 2000.

Linkin Park

When Hybrid Theory was signed to Warner and became Linkin Park, Brad Delson assumed bassist status for their debut album, although Farrell was named as bassist on the album. Farrell returned to Linkin Park with Tasty Snax in 2000 after an absence of about a year and a half. Since then he has stayed with the band.
