- Xero Hybrid Theory (EP)
(1999)

Xero is the first release by the US Nu-Metal band Linkin Park , which was previously called Xero. The EP was recorded in 1997 and sent as a demo to a record company in 1998. It was the only work that was recorded with Mark Wakefield, who - after Xero did not get a record deal - left the band.

Emergence

After the band Xero was founded in 1996, a self-titled demo tape was recorded a year later. The track Rhinestone later found its way into the Linkin Park debut album Hybrid Theory under the title Forgotten . Stick N Move was the basis for Linkin Park's later Runaway , and an instrumental version of the piece from 1998 was released on the EP Underground 9 - Demos . Reading My Eyes has occasionally performed at Linkin Park's live concerts.

Originally the recordings for the EP consisted of six songs. Esaul was later re-recorded and published by Linkin Park as A Place for My Head , Pictureboard remained unpublished for legal reasons.

Cover design

The original cover showed a black and white photo of a shopping cart. This was later replaced by a design by Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn and depicts a baby. A similar motif was used for the Hybrid Theory EP two years later . The baby cover can also be seen in the 2001 music video for Linkin Parks Papercut .
