1st verse | Jay-Z |
2nd stanza | Jay-Z and Chester Bennington |
3rd refrain | Chester Bennington |
The lyrics of the first and second choruses are entirely taken from Jay-Z's song Encore , in which he addresses the audience and demands from this noise and the desire for an encore. His two rap verses are also from Encore . In it, Jay-Z praises himself and his status as a rap superstar. Nobody could imitate him like that and he made it to the top of gangsta rap . On his way there were many people who put obstacles in his way, but he still managed to sell out concerts and make money. Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington then steps in with the lyrics of the first verse and the chorus of Numb , which are about a person who is pressured by the expectations of others and cannot develop himself, which makes him feel numb .
“Can I get an encore, do you want more?
Cookin 'raw with the Brooklyn boy
So for one last time I need y'all to roar
Uh, uh, uh, uh, yeah! Now, what the hell are you waitin 'for?
After me, there shall be no more
So for one last time, nigga, make some noise ”
