background
Actually, the music label Roc-a-Fella Records wanted to produce a collaboration album for Memphis Bleek , Beanie Sigel and Freeway . However, it became another Jay-Z album, but the Roc-A-Fella artists were allowed to co-produce and also rap on the album. Guests like Snoop Dogg , R. Kelly and Scarface also worked on the album. Producers like Swizz Beatz , Kanye West and Timbaland , who already wrote the album Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life and Vol. 3 ... Life and Times of S. Carter , also worked on this album. Other producers are Just Blaze , Bink! and The Neptunes . This album is Jay-Z's first album not produced by DJ Premier. From the gangsta rap of the previous albums, Jay-Z uses a more pleasant variant of rap on this album .
