Rob Bourdon

Robert Gregory "Rob" Bourdon (born January 20, 1979 in Calabasas , California ) is an American musician , known as the drummer and founding member of the American rock band Linkin Park .

Life

Robert Bourdon grew up in the city of Calabasas , California , where he attended Agoura High School with members of Hoobastank . He currently lives in Los Angeles .

The youngest member of the band, Bourdon, met Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer and was inspired by him to learn to play the drums. After joining his high school jazz band in tenth grade, he met Brad Delson and Mike Shinoda , both of whom lived near the San Fernando Valley . Eventually Bourdon and Delson formed their own band, Relative Degree. The band achieved their goal of playing a show and soon broke up. In 1999 the two returned with Shinoda.

Bourdon serves on the board of directors of American Forests, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the US and Canadian forest ecosystems.
