New Divide is a song by the American metal and rock band Linkin Park . The song was released as a single. It was recorded for Michael Bay's film Transformers . The song was released on May 18, 2009. Linkin Park wrote it together; the producer was Mike Shinoda .

The song What I've Done was included in the first Transformers soundtrack as well as in the trailer for the film. Mike Shinoda mentioned the song New Divide on March 28, 2009 and said, "We have been working on a new song for the last few weeks, which has been a lot of fun." The rhythmic basis of the song consists of stacked synthesizer tracks and heavy drumming by drummer Rob Bourdon . On April 24, 2009, Shinoda announced that the band was working with film music composer Hans Zimmer to incorporate different versions of the piece into the film. Although the song cannot be found on any of the band's albums, the song has appeared on several singles, including Iridescent , which served as the soundtrack for the third Transformers film .
Music video
On May 14, 2009, Shinoda said the band was currently working on a music video for the song. The music video was shot at Paramount Studios .
The music video for the song has reached 430 million views on YouTube since it was released (as of May 2020). On September 24, 2011, it crossed the 100 million mark as the first music video for a rock song.
