The pilgrimage church of Sankt Leonhard was built in 1437 by Count Palatine Johann as thanks for his victory over the Hussites in the battle of Hiltersried . Legend has it that the church was built on the exact spot where the Count Palatinate's horse pawed excitedly in the ground on his return from battle. The pilgrimage to the church has existed since the 15th century. In the 18th century, the pilgrimage church was rebuilt and expanded. There is a farm right next to the church.

Every year around the St. Leonhard's Day, November 6th, a Leonhardiritt takes place with the participation of numerous clergy, politicians, associations and the inhabitants of the surrounding villages from Diendorf to Sankt Leonhard. Then a service is celebrated in the pilgrimage church and afterwards the traditional gingerbreads are sold.
