Friedrich Christoph von Schmincke

Johann Friedrich Christoph Schmincke (born December 1, 1775 in Kassel ; † May 10, 1845 there ) was a minister from the Electorate of Hesse.

Life

Schmincke's father, Johann Hermann, was a senior chamber councilor and forest director in Kassel. His mother was Johanne Elisabeth Wittlich. In 1804 Schmincke married a daughter of the rural postmaster Jakob Nebelthau.

Schmincke studied law at the University of Marburg from 1791/92 . In 1802 he became a secret cabinet secretary. Schmincke followed Elector Wilhelm I into exile in 1813 .

In 1821 Schmincke was appointed Foreign Minister, in 1829 simultaneously Minister of Justice and on January 4, 1831, Minister of the Interior for 17 days.
