Paderne is a village and a municipality in the south of Portugal . It is located about 13 km north of Albufeira in the Algarve .
history
It is assumed that a Roman complex previously existed at this point . There is a Roman bridge over the Ribeira de Quarteira and an old water mill nearby. The place was conquered by the Moors and fell to the caliph Yaʿqūb al-Mansūr in 1191 . In 1248, the Reconquista took the place that disappeared from the history books with the earthquake of 1755 .
The walls and the tower of the Moorish Castelo south of the village from the 12th / 13th centuries. Century are good examples of:
- the technical innovations of this time. The advanced tower (with the Arabic-Portuguese name Albarrán), which can only be reached via a small connection, allows enemies to be bothered from the side.
- the cement-cast masonry that became modern in the Almohad times.

Paderne is the seat of a municipality of the same name ( Freguesia ) in the district ( concelho ) of Albufeira in the Faro district . It has 3304 inhabitants on an area of 52.6 km², which corresponds to a density of 63 inhabitants per km². (As of June 30, 2011)
