Laura Elina Österberg Kalmari (born May 27, 1979 in Kirkkonummi ) is a Finnish soccer player. The striker plays for the US club Sky Blue FC . Until October 8, 2019, she was the record goal scorer with 41 goals and since February 26, 2010 she has been the record player for the Finnish national team, with five titles, the most frequent Finnish player of the year.
Career
Laura Kalmari started her career at KyIF Kirkkonummi at the age of five. In 1995 she moved to PuiU Helsinki (Puistolan Urheilijat). On March 11, 1996, she made her debut in a game against Iceland in the Finnish national team. In 1997 she moved to Malmin PS, and one year later to HJK Helsinki . In the very first season she became Finnish champion for the first time. Overall, she was four times Finnish champion, three times cup winner and three times top scorer in the Finnish league with HJK. After a short detour to the North American W-League , where she won the championship title with the Boston Renegades, Damallsvenskan has been playing in the Swedish league since 2002 , where she initially worked for Umeå IK , where she won the UEFA Women's Cup twice and was the league's top scorer has been. In the 2005 season Laura Kalmari moved to the capital club Djurgårdens IF / Älvsjö , with which she won the cup in the same year. In January 2007 she surprisingly announced her move to AIK Solna . She justified the change with the search for a new challenge. With Solna she managed to stay in the league. She took a break from the 2008 season because of a pregnancy .

Private
Laura Österberg Kalmari has been married to the Swedish entrepreneur Niko Väisänen since autumn 2006. The name Österberg comes from her husband's stepfather . She is studying to be a teacher away from the football field. After her career, she would like to work as a primary school teacher.
