The Cyprus Cup 2019 was the 12th edition of the women's football tournament for national teams , which has been held annually since 2008, and was held at various venues in the Republic of Cyprus from February 25 to March 6, 2019, as before . As in 2017 and 2018, the tournament was organized by the Czech Association. As in the past three years, the two record winners, England and Canada, did not take part. As in previous years, England competed in the SheBelieves Cup and won it for the first time. Like last year's winner Spain, Canada took part in the Algarve Cup . The only participant who had won the tournament before was Austria. The top participant in the FIFA world rankings before the start of the tournament was North Korea in 11th place (as of December 2018). For the first time, the World Cup participants Nigeria and Thailand took part. With its tenth participation, Italy, which has been participating continuously since 2010, now became the sole record participant. Again, the team from the host country did not take part, instead in the Aphrodite Cup, which is also taking place in Cyprus .
With North Korea, an Asian team won the tournament for the first time and for the first time the final was decided on penalties .
