Rita Chikwelu (born March 6, 1988 in Asabe , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian soccer player.

Career

Chikwelu began her career at Akwa Starlets FC and moved to the Finnish first division club FC United Piertasaari in spring 2006. After 3 ½ years with FC United Piertasaari, she moved to Turku PS (TPS) in July 2009 . After only half a year in which she came up with only one game for TPS, she moved to the Swedish first division club Umeå IK in January 2010 . After moving to Sweden, she made her debut in qualifying for the UEFA Women's Champions League against ASA Tel Aviv on August 8, 2010 .

International

Chikwelu has scored 15 goals in 30 international matches for the Nigerian women's national soccer team . She represented her home country at the 2004 , 2006 and 2008 Women's U-19 World Cup . At the senior level, Chikwelu played the 2007 Women's World Cup in China and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing .
