Janice Cayman (born October 12, 1988 in Brasschaat ) is a Belgian national soccer player .
Career
Cayman started her career with Ossmi VV (CDV).
In 2002 she moved to Excelsior Kaart, where she made her professional debut at the age of 15. In the 2003/04 season she became a goal getter and was the top scorer in the Belgian second division at the age of only 16. In July 2005 she left her club and signed for the first class club Lentezon Beerse. There she quickly became a top performer and signed for the Belgian top club Oud-Heverlee Leuven the following year. However, she could not prevail and switched to DVC Evas Tienen for the 2007/08 season, where Cayman won the double straight away.
In September 2009, she enrolled for her studies at Florida State University and played the 2010 season for the W-League team Pali Blues .
After a season in the W-League, she returned to the Athletic Team at Florida State University and played for the Seminoles Women Soccer Team.
In December 2011 and after graduating from Florida State University, she returned to Europe and moved to France to the top club Juvisy FCF . With her new club, she reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League in spring 2013 ; In this competition, the Belgian, who mostly came from the left, had scored two goals for Juvisy herself.
After the end of the 2015/16 season, Cayman moved to the Western New York Flash franchise in the National Women's Soccer League in July 2016 . She contributed to the first-time championship title of the Flash with three season appearances (no goal). In October 2016, Cayman's contract was terminated by the Flash. From January 2017, there followed two and a half years at the French first division club HSC Montpellier - despite the failure to win titles personally . Cayman has been in the ranks of the national series champions and defending Champions League titleholder Olympique Lyon since summer 2019 .
International
Cayman made her international debut at the age of 18 on May 5, 2007 in qualifying for the 2009 European Championships in the 1-0 defeat against Switzerland .
At the Algarve Cup 2016 , in which Belgium participated for the first time, she was the top scorer with four goals. In September 2016, the Belgians were able for the first time for a big tournament qualify what they contributed four goals in eight games. At the finals in the neighboring country, the “red flames” - this is the common name of the Belgian women's national team - were able to win against ex-European champions Norway , with Janice Cayman scoring the goal to make it 2-0 after losing to the eventual finalists Denmark and the Netherlands but they were eliminated after the group stage.
In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup , she was the best European goalscorer with ten goals in ten games. The Belgians failed in the playoffs of the group runners-up after a 2-2 home draw and a 1-1 away draw against Switzerland due to the away goals rule .
