Daddy's Home 2 - More Dads, More Problems! (Original title: Daddy's Home 2 ) is an American comedy film directed by Sean Anders , based on the script by Anders and John Morris . The film is a sequel to the 2015 film Daddy's Home starring Will Ferrell , Mark Wahlberg , Linda Cardellini , John Cena , John Lithgow and Mel Gibson .

action

The film starts some time after the events of the first part. Dusty and Brad have now accepted their relationship with Sara and the children as joint co-dads . However, this is put to the test when Dusty and Brad's fathers visit over the holidays. While Dusty's father Kurt is oozing with masculinity, Brad's father Don couldn't be more different. He loves to chat and has a talent for improvisational theater .

Kurt, who invited himself because his son didn't invite him, does everything in his power to destroy the shaky relationship between Dusty and Brad. To get the two of them to get into each other's hair, he quickly booked a holiday home for everyone over the holidays. It almost looks like Dusty and Brad joked about it forever. When Brad invites Roger, the biological father of Dusty's stepchildren, the situation threatens to escalate.

Ultimately, a snowstorm leads the small group to discuss their problems in a cinema in the middle of nowhere. Brad and Dusty reconcile, and even Dusty and Kurt's longstanding animosity is ended.

production

It was released by Paramount Pictures in the United States on November 10, 2017. The film was shown in Germany from December 7, 2017. The pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger makes a cameo in the film .

criticism

The film received rather negative reviews from critics. Matthias von Viereck from the Aachener Nachrichten describes Daddy's Home 2 as a “family film whose dialogues only hit the belt here and there. The film should also lead one or the other mulled wine-blessed male troop into the cinemas. As a counterpart to Bad Moms 2 , which is strong for women, it works wonderfully. "
