history
The publisher was founded by the Swabian entrepreneur Erich Schumm (known for Esbit ), who brought the “books read aloud” from the USA as a promising medium. He founded "schumm sprechende books" and had several recording studios built to allow well-known speakers to read literature.
In 1995 Johanna Steinbach-Grobst took over the publishing house and gave it its current name. The publisher's "regular authors" include a. Khaled Hosseini , Rafik Schami , Michel Bussi , Inger G. Madsen, Philipp Winkler , Marshall B. Rosenberg u. a.
Together with the J.Kamphausen media group , the audio book publisher publishes the audio book edition Mastery in Life . On January 1, 2016, the entire publishing business was sold to the Danish publisher Lindhardt og Ringhof. Lindhardt og Ringhof is Denmark's second largest publishing house and belongs to the Egmont media group. Lindhardt og Ringhof specializes in the digital distribution of audio books and ebooks. steinbach sprechende bücher takes over the rights of physical reproduction and distribution from Lindhardt og Ringhof - and continues to act independently with the sale of physical audio books.
