Malik Yoba (born September 17, 1967 in New York City , New York ) is an American actor .

Life

Malik Yoba is the son of Mahmoudah Young and Abdullah Yoba. He is the fourth of six children.

Just for fun he went to a casting at the end of 1991 and had immediate success, he got a leading role in the film Cool Runnings , which appeared in 1993. From 1994 to 1999 he played the lead role of James "JC" Williams in the television series New York Undercover . Yoba was part of the main cast of Defying Gravity , which was discontinued in 2009 after just one season. In 2015 he appeared in a recurring supporting role in Empire . In between he had guest roles in various series as well as roles in films. From 2016 to 2017 he starred alongside Kiefer Sutherland in 17 episodes of the television series Designated Survivor .

Malik Yoba was married to the actress Trisha Mann, with her he has a daughter and a son. He also has a daughter from a previous relationship.
