Port Chester is a town in Westchester County in the US state of New York . It lies entirely in the municipality of Rye (“town Rye”), is 6.2 km² and in 2010 had a population of 28,967.

Historical objects

Port Chester's historic Life Savers Building is on North Main Street . The building of the candy manufacturer Life Savers of the same name was listed on July 11, 1985 by the National Register of Historic Places as a historic monument with the number 85001496.

location

Port Chester is located on the coast of Long Island Sound immediately before the state border to Connecticut , which is partly marked here by the Byram River , which flows into the sea here. Interstate 95 ( New England Thruway ) passes directly on the coastline ; Interstate 287 ( Cross Westchester Expressway ) runs to the southwest .

The station Port Chester is part of the North-East corridor and intermediate stop for commuter trains toward Grand Central Terminal and New Haven . From 1929 to 1937 it was also the terminus of the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway , which offered connections to the Bronx .
