Glenn Zottola
Glenn Paul Zottola (born April 28, 1947 in Port Chester ) is an American jazz trumpeter (also flugelhorn , saxophone ) of swing and mainstream jazz .
Live and act
Zottola comes from a musical family; his father Frank Zottola was arranger and trumpeter with Claude Thornhill , his brother Bob played the trumpet with Slide Hampton . As a thirteen-year-old, Glenn performed in the family's New York jazz club, Something Else u. a. with Tommy Flanagan , Booker Ervin, and Ray Bryant ; at the age of seventeen he played in the Glenn Miller Ghost Band under the direction of Buddy DeFranco . In 1964 he performed with the Rod Levitt Octet at the Newport Jazz Festival . In the 1960s he played a. a. with Bobby Hackett and Lionel Hampton , in Broadway shows in the 70s . The first recordings were made in 1979 by Mousey Alexander and Butch Miles . In 1980 he recorded for the first time under his own name; he played with Al Klink , Harold Danko and Al Harewood in the live recording from the Eddie Condon’s jazz club .
In the 1980s, Zottola recorded a number of albums with his own bands, performed in New York jazz clubs such as Fat Tuesday’s and also worked with Bob Wilber , George Masso , Stella Lawson, George Kelly , Carrie Smith , Maxine Sullivan and Peggy Lee , In the early 1990s with Peanuts Hucko , Hugh Barlow and Steve Allen . In the field of jazz he was involved in 46 recording sessions between 1979 and 1994.
