The Fat Tuesday's was a New York jazz club , which existed 1978-1995.

The Fat Tuesday's , located on Third Avenue in Manhattan , was one of the famous venues of the mainstream and modern jazz in the 1980s and early 1990s. The club run by Blaise Didio was located in the basement of the historic Scheffel Hall building (built 1894/95), 190 Third Avenue, between 17th and 18th Street, which was originally part of the local German-American community and previously the German-American Athletic Club hosted.

The club performed jazz musicians in the 1980s and 1990s such as Muhal Richard Abrams , Cecil Taylor , Stan Getz , Dizzy Gillespie , Ron Carter , Ted Curson , Chico Freeman , Joe Henderson , Shirley Horn , Toshiko Akiyoshi , Bucky Pizzarelli , George Coleman , John Bunch , Larry Coryell / Emily Remler and Vic Juris . Les Paul played there every Monday .

In Fat Tuesday’s concert recordings were made by Tommy Flanagan (1979), Chet Baker (1981), Steve Kuhn / Sheila Jordan (1981), Pepper Adams (1983), Kenny Barron (1988), Michel Legrand (1990), Jimmy Smith (1991) , Freddie Hubbard (1991) or Jay Leonhart (1993). After returning from San Francisco , where he had performed at Keystone Korner , Bill Evans was booked for five nights at the New York club Fat Tuesdays in September 1980. In fact, the terminally ill pianist only managed to play two sets on September 10; he died on September 15th.
