Carmen Ejogo
Carmen Elizabeth Ejogo (born October 22, 1973 in London ) is a British actress and singer .
Career
Ejogo began her career in British television, where she hosted the show Saturday Disney from 1993 to 1995 . From the mid-1990s, the first major roles in film and television productions followed. In 2000 she took on the role of slave girl Sally Hemings in Sally Hemings: An American Scandal . For her role in Lackawanna Blues she was nominated for the Image Award 2006 for Best Actress in a TV Movie / Miniseries .
In 2014 she appeared in the Blumhouse production The Purge: Anarchy as Eva Sanchez . In the same year she took on the role of civil rights activist Coretta Scott King in Selma . In Harry Potter - a spin-off Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find (2016) and his successor Fantastic Beasts: Grindelwald's Crime (2018) she was as Seraphina Picquery to see.
In addition to her career as an actress, Ejogo also sporadically worked as a singer. She worked with Alex Reece and Tricky , among others . In 2012 she made several vocal contributions for the soundtrack for the film Sparkle .
She was nominated for Best Actress at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards for her portrayal in Robert Budreau's biography Born to be Blue, about the jazz musician Chet Baker .
Private life
In 1998 Ejogo was briefly married to the musician Tricky . Since 2000 she has been married to the American actor Jeffrey Wright , whom she met while filming the HBO film Boycott . The couple have two children and live in Brooklyn , New York City .
