Alex Reece

Alex Reece (* in London as Alexander Charles Ernest Reece ) is a British DJ and producer in the jazz step genre , the jazzy variant of drum and bass .

Inspired by acid house and Detroit techno of the late 1980s, Reece began DJing. In 1992 he became a sound engineer at jungle producer Jack Smooth . Reece tried his hand at house production, but then switched to drum and bass. In the 1990s he released on the Sinister , Creative Wax and Moving Shadow labels , but he achieved best fame as a member of the Metalheadz collective. The tracks Basic Principles and especially Pulp Fiction became jungle standards. Further singles as well as his debut album So Far , which he brought out from 1996 on the Mayor sub-label Island Records , could no longer record any notable successes.
