Robert Budreau

Robert Budreau (born January 25, 1974 in London , Ontario ) is a Canadian producer, director and screenwriter.

Life

His mother's name is Claire Budreau. He grew up in the city of Ingersoll and graduated from McMaster University . He trained as a lawyer at the University of British Columbia and studied film at the Vancouver Film School . Until 2004 he worked as a lawyer at Goodmans LLP in Toronto .

He began his career as a producer, director and screenwriter with short films at his film production company Lumanity Productions Inc. His first feature film was the romantic mystery drama That Beautiful Somewhere with Roy Dupuis and Jane McGregor .

In 2005 Budreau won the Sudbury Cinéfest for dry whiskey as best Canadian short film. In 2007, That Beautiful Somewhere received awards at the California Independent Film Festival , the Garden State Film Festival, and the Park City Film Music Festival .

His biopic Born to be Blue (2015) about the jazz musician Chet Baker with Ethan Hawke in the lead role, which won prizes for the best original score and the best original song at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards, was also very successful .
