Blueberry and the curse of the demons is a Western comic book adaptation of Jan Kounen from the year 2004 . The film, shot in a Franco-Mexican co-production, opened on July 1, 2004 in cinemas in German-speaking countries. It is based on the comics about Lieutenant Blueberry ; the film offers a loose adaptation of the work.
action
US Marshal Mike Blueberry, known by the natives as a "Broken Nose", has vague premonitions and visions of the death of his first love. Professionally, he ensures that the peace between the troops and the Indians is kept; the latter had once adopted and raised him. Above all, he has to deal with the white wizard Blount, whose actions are directed against this peace. He goes to the Holy Mountains to face the villain. With shamanic rituals, which also include drug use, he fights his fears and can bring back memories of earlier events: As a greenhorn, he fell in love with a prostitute; However, Blount made claims on them. In the following shooting, the girl was killed and he himself was badly wounded. Rescuing himself in the desert, he was found by the Indians. After returning to reality, he faces the fight with Blount and can defeat him.
criticism
The lexicon of international films praised the brilliant photography, but was otherwise not very enthusiastic: “The archaic struggle between good and evil turns into a rather flimsy, mystically disguised game with different perceptions of reality.” Steffen Anton calls the film a crude mixture Dead Man and Matrix . Other reviews also noted the somewhat confused narrative.
