Jan Kounen
Jan Kounen (born May 2, 1964 in Utrecht ) is a French film director and film producer of Dutch origin.
Life
Kounen became known in the 1990s with short films and music videos (for example for the British synth-pop band Erasure ). His first feature film Dobermann was made in 1997 based on the novel of the same name by Joël Houssin with Vincent Cassel , Tchéky Karyo and Monica Bellucci in the leading roles. In 2004 the comic adaptation Blueberry and the Curse of the Demons was made , in 2007 the film adaptation of Frédéric Beigbeder's novel 39.90 and in 2009 the film Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky , based on Chris Greenhalgh's novel of the same name.
While filming Blueberry and the Curse of the Demons , Kounen developed an interest in shamanism and the Shipibo-Conibo culture , which he pursued in the 2004 documentary D'autres mondes .
