Frédéric Beigbeder
Frédéric Beigbeder [ fʀedeˈʀik bɛgbeˈde ] (born September 21, 1965 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) is a French writer , actor , screenwriter and director .
life and career
Frédéric Beigbeder was born in 1965 as the son of a personnel consultant and a descendant of the de Chasteigner noble family in the Parisian suburb of Neuilly-sur-Seine. The father worked as a headhunter, the mother as a novel translator. After his parents divorced early, he and his brother grew up mostly with their mother. He developed a strong bond with his brother Charles Beigbeder , who founded the Internet platform Selftrade in 1997 , sold it for billions in profits and, in 2002, founded the first independent French electricity company , Poweo .
Beigbeder studied political science at Sciences Po Paris and was hired by the advertising agency Young & Rubicam after the publication of his first novel, Memoirs of a Son from a Bad Family . There he worked for ten years as a copywriter and conceptioner. With the publication of his novel thirty-nine ( 99 francs ) he became known beyond the borders of France and at the same time became one of the key words in consumer criticism . More novels followed. In 1994 he created the Prix de Flore for young authors (named after the famous Café de Flore in St-Germain-des-Prés), which includes Michel Houellebecq and Virginie Despentes . In 2005 Beigbeder was a guest writer at the Book Fair in Beirut together with Alain Decaux , Richard Millet and Jean-Pierre Thiollet . In 2009 he received the Prix Renaudot for his work Un roman français .
In private, Beigbeder was in a relationship with actress Laura Smet for a while.
