The novel Love lasts three years is the last part of the Marc Marronnier trilogy by the French writer Frédéric Beigbeder . This novel was published in January 2003 as a German translation of the French original L'amour dure trois ans (1997).

In January 2012, the film adaptation of the book was published under the direction of Frédéric Beigbeder under the title Das verflixte 3. Jahr (original title: L'amour dure trois ans).

The protagonist Marc Marronnier describes his suffering and experience after his divorce, which was celebrated as a “glittering party”. Not the divorce from his wife Anne, but the rejection by his lover Alice drove him to despair. She did not want to part with her husband Antoine for a future together with Marc.
