Mark Addy (born January 14, 1964 in York , England ) is a British actor .

biography

Mark Addy was born in Tang Hall , York , and grew up in the city of his birth. His father Ian was a professional glazier at York Minster . His acting talent was discovered at the York Theater Royal, where he worked as a stage worker from the age of sixteen. He then attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art to become an actor. He then appeared in various theater productions, including at the Hull Truck Theater and the Royal National Theater .

In 1992, Addy had a minor supporting role as one of the residents of Sub Uncton in the three-part episode The Journey to England of the American sitcom A Terribly Kind Family . After his first feature film had become a commercial success, all or nothing , he played other supporting roles in successful English and American films. In the film The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas , he played Fred Feuerstein and sang the title This Isn't Love , which was also released on the soundtrack.

From 2002 to 2006 he played the main male role alongside Jami Gertz in the American sitcom Still Standing on the CBS television channel . In 2010 he played the role of the monk Brother Tuck in the historical epic Robin Hood by Ridley Scott . 2011 Addy was in the HBO - Fantasy television series Game of Thrones in the role of Robert Baratheon to see. For his performance he was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award 2012 together with the ensemble of the series .

Addy is married and has three children, a daughter and two sons.
