Space Buddies - Mission in Space (Original title: Space Buddies ) is an American Walt Disney - family film from Robert Vince from the year 2009. This is the third part of a spin-off film series to series Air Bud - Champion on four paws .

action

The golden retriever puppies Rosebud, Budderball, Mudbud, B-Dawg and Buddha spend the day together again and do all sorts of nonsense as long as their owners are at school. But when one day their class goes on a trip to “Vision Enterprises”, the buddies hide secretly in the school bus. The children can witness the test launch of the “Vision 1” spaceship, which is supposed to fly to the moon. Before that, they receive a briefing and when Sam happens to use an automatic outfitter, the pups watch how a spacesuit is automatically fitted to him. They do it without anyone noticing and then hide on "Vision 1". After the shuttle is activated, the pups unintentionally go on a journey into space.

In the control station of the "Vision Enterprises" the operators discover an incompletely filled third tank of the shuttle, so that the fuel supply would be exhausted after ten hours and thus too early. Therefore one tries to divert the “Vision One” to the “RRSS”, an old Soviet space station, in order to refuel there. After docking, the dogs decide to explore the space station and meet the cosmonaut Yuri and his space dog Spudnick, a bull terrier . While Yuri is quite happy with his solitude in space, Spudnick would love to go back home and see his owner, Sasha. That is why he joins the buddies when they rush back into their shuttle after an accident on the space station. When Yuri tries to prevent his dog from doing so, he sets off an explosion so that the "RRSS" explodes and he just manages to use the escape pod.

The "Vision 1" continues its course to the moon at high speed. The ship lands and the buddies explore the moon, allowing them a respectful view of the earth. Only now does the head of mission from "Mission Control" notice that there are dogs on board and are now entering the moon unplanned. This sensation is communicated to the news channels, so that the owners of the buddies who have been missing their pups since their school trip can guess who is in the spacesuits. In the meantime, a ferret that can communicate with the dogs contacts the friends on the moon via audio transmission at Mission Control and instructs them to return.

On the return flight, the "Vision 1" gets caught in a meteor shower. The data antenna is damaged and the return to earth is endangered. Budderball decides to repair the antenna under Spudnick's guidance, which causes great astonishment at "Mission Control". There you can now receive Yuri's emergency signal from his escape pod, which enters the atmosphere almost simultaneously with “Vision 1” and almost collides with the shuttle. Both aircraft will return safely to earth and the buddies are celebrated as heroes worldwide due to media coverage. All six dogs return safely to their owners Sam, Bartleby, Billy, Alice, Pete, Henry and Noah, who have been longingly waiting for them. Spudnick is also brought back to Russia , where he is happily embraced by his owner Sasha.

The buddies are publicly given the honorable title of “Space Buddies”, which should inspire all others to become heroic. On arrival at home, Buddha gives Sam a moonstone from his journey, so that Sam's wish to touch the moon once was granted.

criticism

Kino.de assessed: “A comedy series for the dear little ones, which started in the 90s in a reasonably original way under the title 'Air Bud', will be continued on DVD and in space, when in this third part of the 'Buddies' offspin ( after 'Air Buddies' and 'Snow Buddies'), a quintet of talking dogs undertakes a trip to the moon, impresses white coats at computer desks with intelligent improvisation and pursues a policy of relaxation with Russian fighting dogs. Naive-kitschy, competently made glossy children's film without any further-reaching qualities. "
