Tom Shadyac

Tom Shadyac (born December 11, 1958 in Falls Church , Virginia ) is an American director , film producer and writer .

Shadyac is best known for his film partnership with comedian Jim Carrey , which spawned hits like Ace Ventura , The Dumbbeater and Bruce Almighty . He also worked with Eddie Murphy on the remake of the Jerry Lewis comedy The Mad Professor and its sequel, The Klumps Family and the Mad Professor . He also shot Patch Adams with Robin Williams and In the Sign of the Dragonfly with Kevin Costner . He also referred to as executive producer of the ABC - sitcom " Simple Rules responsible".

Most recently he directed the Bruce Almighty sequel Evan Almighty , this time with Steve Carell in the lead role.
