Erich Wolfram

Erich Wolfram (born October 5, 1928 in Bruch , Czechoslovakia , † February 8, 2003 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending school, Wolfram was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1944 and took part in the Second World War as a soldier . At the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in 1946. In the Soviet zone of occupation, he opposed a forced unification of the SPD with the KPD and therefore had to flee.

Wolfram studied economics in Halle and Cologne . He became a qualified insurance expert and worked from 1952 to 1957 at IG Bergbau und Energie and as an expert in the committees of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) in Luxembourg . From 1957 to 1970 he was initially authorized representative, then authorized signatory and finally director of the mining company Ewald-Kohlen AG . He then became a director at Ruhrkohle AG in Essen .

Political party

Wolfram joined the SPD in 1946. He was local, city association and deputy district chairman of the party in Recklinghausen .

MP

Wolfram was a council member of the city of Recklinghausen. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1969 to 1987. From the sixth to eighth electoral term (1969–1980) he represented the constituency of Recklinghausen-Stadt in parliament . In the ninth and tenth term (1980-1987) he represented the constituency Recklinghausen I . He was also a member of the European Parliament from 1970 to 1973 .

Public offices

Wolfram served as Lord Mayor of Recklinghausen from 1972 to 1984 . After the formation of the Recklinghausen district, he was mayor of the city until 1987 .
