Sulpiz Hamm

Sulpiz Hamm (also known as Sulpicius Hamm) (born September 30, 1877 in Berlin ; † December 12, 1944 in Beiert ) was a German politician and Lord Mayor of Recklinghausen .

Life

After his two legal state exams - in the meantime he did military service as a one-year volunteer with the Bergisches Feld-Artillerie-Regiment in Cologne - Sulpiz Hamm was first assistant judge at the Cologne District and Regional Court on December 15, 1905 and from May 1, 1907 for two years Laborer at the provincial administration of the Rhine Province . After temporary employment as an assistant judge at the Düsseldorf District and Regional Court, he was elected as an alderman for the city of Recklinghausen and was introduced to his office on April 1, 1910. He was elected second mayor of the city on January 29, 1915. Four years later, on September 12, 1919, he was introduced to the office of mayor. He held the title of Lord Mayor on August 28, 1920. He retired on September 12, 1931 and moved to Cologne.

Hamm belonged to the Center Party , was a member of the Westphalian Provincial Parliament for the constituency of Recklinghausen-Stadt from 1919 to 1931, and its chairman from 1921 to 1931. During the First World War he was used as a lieutenant in the Reserve Field Artillery Regiment No. 33 .
