Josef Hellermann (born September 1, 1885 in Altenilpe , today town of Schmallenberg , † March 9, 1964 in Recklinghausen ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1945 to 1946 he was Lord Mayor of Recklinghausen and from 1950 to 1958 a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

After graduating from high school, Josef Hellermann studied at the universities of Munich and Münster , he passed the philological state examination and received his doctorate. phil. He then did his pedagogical training at a grammar school in Soest . He later worked as a seminar leader at the teachers' seminars in Büren and Recklinghausen. Hellermann was from 1920 to 1933 city school councilor and then city school councilor in Recklinghausen until 1943.

Before 1933 Hellermann had been a member of the Center Party . From 1933 to 1943 he was a member of the NSDAP , then he was expelled from the party and imprisoned in a Gestapo prison. In 1945 he joined the CDU and became CDU district chairman for Recklinghausen-Stadt.

Hellermann was Mayor of Recklinghaus from 1945 to 1946, then senior city director until 1950 .

He was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 93 (Recklinghausen-Stadt) in the second and third electoral terms. He was an MP from July 5, 1950 to July 12, 1958.

Since 1906 he was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Rheno-Franconia Munich.
