Altenilpe is a district of the city of Schmallenberg in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Altenilpe is approx. 2.5 km east of Dorlar and 3 km northwest of Bad Fredeburg . In terms of traffic, Altenilpe is accessed via the district road (K20) running through the village, which leads from Bad Fredeburg to Dolar. The district road is used for local and through traffic and has a height of around 439 m above sea level at the southern entrance to the village from the direction of Bad Fredeburg. NN, the western edge of the village is about 419 m above sea level. NN. The water-bearing Ilpe runs next to the district road and is fed by three tributaries in the area of ​​the village.

history

The place Altenilpe (then Yfflepe ) was first mentioned in 1313 in the property register of the Counts of Arnsberg . The place was also called Ahlenifelpe (1313), Aldenyflepe (1338) and Alten Iffelpe (1521). In "Alten-yphelpe" there was a hoof from the Meschede monastery in the 14th century .

Early clues about the size of the place can be found in an appraisal register (used to collect taxes) for the year 1543. According to this, there were 10 persons subject to appraisal in “AldenIffelpe”; the number should have agreed with the farms or houses that existed at the time. Until the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, Altenilpe belonged to the municipality of Dorlar.

Since the reorganization by the Sauerland / Paderborn law on January 1, 1975, Altenilpe has belonged to the Hochsauerlandkreis and is part of the town of Schmallenberg. In the 2008/2009 state competition " Our village has a future ", Altenilpe was awarded a silver plaque.
