Ohlenbach is a district of the city of Schmallenberg and has been a state-recognized climatic health resort in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2018 .
geography
Ohlenbach is about two kilometers northeast of Westfeld . The scattered houses extend from the state road 640, which here through the Schwarze Siepental from Westfeld towards Altastenberg , up to 640 height. The place consists of 16 houses and two holiday homes. The nature reserve Bachtal des Schwarzen Siepens lies northeast of Ohlenbach.
history
The village of Ohlenbach emerged from 1830. In 1830 Johann Vogt was the first to move from Westfeld to Ohlenbach and built Haus Braun (today's Gasthof Braun). In the following years, other residents from Westfeld built farms there, and residents from other places followed suit. The chapel was built in 1948. On January 1, 1975, Ohlenbach was incorporated into the town of Schmallenberg with the municipality of Oberkirchen , to which it belonged until then.
