history

The name Wulwesort (at that time "Wolffs orth") was found on a map from 1753. The history of the hamlet began in 1904. The Royal Romanian Consul General Gustav H. Müller in Rotterdam, who was born in Düsseldorf, set up on January 25, 1904 Write to the Schmallenberg office to lease the Fleckenberg hunt . On February 1, 1904, Müller received a lease permit from the office. In June 1904, the new tenant informed the office in a letter that he wanted to build a hunting lodge in Wulwesort. In the same year the hunting lodge and later a wooden house were built in Wulwesort. Subsequently, Müller acquired extensive property around his house.

After the death of Gustav H. Müller in August 1913, the doctor and industrialist Dr. med. Otto Goebel from Ruhrort took over the property. Wulwesort was incorporated into the new community of Fleckenberg in 1920. In 1923 Goebel built a house and acquired additional property, and since the end of 1925 the house has been his main residence. Four years later, 13 residents lived in the village. In 1931, around 290 hectares of land belonged to the estate. In World War II Wulwesort was known because there on April 20, 1945 just before the end of the Ruhr Pocket , the commanding general of the infantry leading Joachim von Kortzfleisch was shot by a patrol of the US Army. The Goebel family also ran a small farm until 1965. From 1915 to 1975 the estate had its own forester.

Until the municipal reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, Wulwesort belonged to the municipality of Fleckenberg. Since January 1, 1975, Wulwesort has been part of the town of Schmallenberg.
