In 1518 the vicar of Berghausen, Johann Wormecke, gave the court to the new vicarie of Fredeburg. In 1861 the manor house and the stables were rebuilt after a large fire.

Until the local reorganization in North Rhine-Westphalia, Altenhof belonged to the municipality of Wormbach . Since January 1st, 1975 Altenhof has been part of the town of Schmallenberg.

religion

The small neo-Gothic chapel was built in 1861 by the owner Lorenz Schulte in honor of the Mother of God and consecrated on December 11, 1862. In 1892 the chapel received a way of the cross.
