The Leiße , also written as Leisse on some maps , is a 13.9 km long right tributary of the Wenne in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .

geography

The Leiße rises about 1.5 km northeast of Bad Fredeburg on the southern flank of the Kahlenberg (712.6 m) belonging to western Hunau at an altitude of 587  m above sea level. NHN . First flowing to the southwest, the brook flows through Bad Fredeburg and turns its course to the northwest on the southern outskirts. The Leiße flows through the villages of Mailar and Dorlar and flows into Frielinghausen at 307  m above sea level. NHN in the Wenne .

On its 13.9 km long path, the Leiße overcomes a difference in altitude of 280 m, which corresponds to an average bed gradient of 20.1 ‰. It drains a 23.393 km² catchment area via Wenne, Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

The Leiße flows up to local locations only in the Leisse landscape protection area with side valleys to the west of Bad Fredeburg and in the Leiße landscape protection area with nameless tributaries and Landenbecker Siepen .

Tributaries

Numerous short streams flow to the Leiße from the slopes of the surrounding heights. The longest is the 3.3 km long Frettelt . In the following, the tributaries are named in the order from the source to the mouth, which are managed by the Cologne District Government (former Land Survey Office).
