Patrick Fabian (born October 11, 1987 in Hagen ) is a former German soccer player . The right-footed defender was under contract with VfL Bochum .
Career
His career began in 1993 at VfB Westhofen in Schwerte . In 1999 he switched to Sportfreunde Oestrich-Iserlohn , which he left in 2000 for VfL Bochum . In 2007 he moved up to the professional squad and made his Bundesliga debut on February 14, 2009 in the derby win against FC Schalke 04 . Between March 30, 2011 and the following 16 months, Fabian suffered three tears of the cruciate ligament in his right knee at short intervals , which resulted in a total of 28 months of absence. It wasn't until the first matchday of the 2013/14 season that he celebrated his comeback in the away game at 1. FC Union Berlin (2-1). About a week later he scored his first goal in professional football in the home game against Dynamo Dresden (1: 1) with the interim opening goal to make it 1-0.
After 20 years as a footballer in the club, he ended his active career after the second division season 2019/20 . He remained at VfL Bochum as an assistant to the management.

He celebrated his greatest sporting success to date in 2005 when he won the A-Junior runner-up championship.
